Cleveland’s varsity women’s
basketball team dominated their game on Tuesday, Feb. 22 against the visiting Franklin women with a
final score of 101-43.
The Warriors swept the game out of reach from
the start, setting their own team record for points scored, and becoming Cleveland’s first women’s
basketball team to win their PIL league championship.
At half, Cleveland
was already leading 45-22. Throughout the second two quarters, they
continued to win turnovers and rebounds, propelling them farther up the
scoreboard. Emily Rommel and Lydia Snodderly were the team’s high scorers
with 19 points each.
Franklin hung in till the
buzzer, strongly supported by junior Lisa Chiem. Chiem sunk a total of 25
points for the Quakers, many of which sprang from impressive three-pointers.
The game started with honoring the team’s four
seniors, Dana Parker, Callie Holgate, Alemah Nay, and Laura Lesowske.
