Playing basketball since the third grade as a point guard, junior Emilie Parton - healthy and ready to give her all - looks forward to the upcoming basketball season.

Emilie’s favorite part of being a junior is being a role model to younger players. Switching from St. Agnes School to Highlands in the seventh grade changed Emilie’s life in a major way. She was planning on attending Notre Dame because her aunt was the basketball coach there, but when her family moved to Fort Thomas she soon realized going to Highlands would be her best choice, and she has made many lifelong friends in her time here.

Emilie also enjoys visiting her family’s place at Lake Cumberland where she water tubes, jumps cliffs and surfs. She likes hanging out with her friends, lifting weights and working out with her trainer, who also happens to be her stepdad.

"My parents say my best talent is my ability to text 20 people at one time and have a conversation with them at the same time," Emilie says with a laugh, even though she also has a lot of ability on the basketball court.

"You won’t find a more dedicated player than Emilie," says Coach Jamie Richey. "She spends countless hours in the gym to improve her game."
