With track season well underway, the team is still standing strong.

“Across the distance side, almost everyone has set new personal records,” said sophomore Jeanette Patrick.

This season, Central’s varsity track team has competed in four track meets and according to senior distance runner Zach Davis, “We’re doing the best we can with the small team we have.”

From last year in the 1600 meter run, known to most people as the mile, Davis has dropped 13 seconds and as of last meet set a new personal record of 4:46.

“Times are way better than before,” said Davis.

Central, despite having dropped time in almost all running events from last year is still not winning track meets due to the size of the team.

“Individuals are placing, but the team as a whole isn’t winning because of bigger schools that have bigger teams, which ultimately means more points,” said Patrick.
