Crowds, commotion, and cheering all played a role in the excitement of the last assembly of the year. On Friday, May 30, students took their seats on the bleachers to take part in viewing and congratulating all of their fellow classmates in receiving awards at the Renaissance Assembly.

This year’s theme for the Renaissance Assembly was Superheroes. The Power Puff girls represented the freshmen, Superman represented the sophomores, Batman represented the juniors and the Incredibles represented the seniors.

The Renaissance Assembly began at 9:00 with the rousing sound of the Senior band. After the Senior band played, Anant Uprelti and Wilson Lam, both trumpet players motivated the crowd as they played for the Knight Rider, Taylor Knight. As the Assembly progressed, the Chamber singers and band performed the Star Spangled Banner, and the Cheerleader’s Song Team gave a stunning routine.

Finally, it was time for the presentation of the awards. The awards presented were the Art Award, Top 10 Freshmen, Academic Decathlon Winners, Top 10 Sophomores, CIF Gold Cords, Top 10 Juniors, Presidential Leadership, Presidential Excellence, Presidential Volunteer, Service Award, Top 10 Seniors, Perfect Attendance, Athletics Awards, Military Presentations, Golden Knights, Boys and Girls State, and Valedictorian. Other special events were the highlights of the Performing Arts groups, and the announcement of our new ASB President, Sea Pong.

To finish off the assembly the Knight Rider rode one last time and all of the students and faculty members sang the Arroyo Alma Mater. The Renaissance Assembly ended at 10:13 leaving the students with a feeling of accomplishment, praise, and improvement.
