At-a-glance

Students should clean up after themselves. - Vy Le

Littering has always been a problem worldwide, but lately it has caught my eyes that littering is also a huge problem at our school, especially after lunch. If you ever notice our new beautiful campus after lunch, then “beautiful” wouldn’t be the word but rather “repulsive”. Millions of dollars were put into renewing the campus but that doesn’t help because students continue to disrespect school property with lunch leftovers. Despite the fact that there are trashcans all over campus, students still resist throwing away trash.

“The trash after lunch is ridiculous because, you know, this shcool is like their home for eight hours besides their house. If they were to take it care of the trash next to them the whole time then we’ll have a good campus. But yeah, its becoming a big problem,” said campus supervisor, Byron Lopez.

Are students really becoming lazy or do they just simply forgot to throw away the trash? “Students are not lazy but it’s just that they are too distracted because this is the only time that they are hanging out with their friends so they get too distracted and then they have to run to their next class because the bell rang so some of them don’t want to be late so they don’t have the time or chance or the simply forget,” said Lopez.

I urge students to participate when it comes to picking up trash after lunch and keep our beautiful campus stay beautiful. There is a simple solution to this problem. Students need to put their trash where it belongs. Maybe putting your trash away isn’t exactly the “cool thing” but it’s the right thing to do.
