It is that time of year once
again for all of the seniors to
begin thinking about their
futures and for the dreaded
“senioritis” to kick in. Each
year the seniors begin acting
differently and pushing
school to the back burner.
They stop caring about school work and start
counting down the days until they walk across
that big stage on graduation day. Each and every
one of us knows what I am talking about and this
year things are no different then before. The seniors
begin treating teachers with less respect by
refusing to do school work and skipping classes.
Walking through the halls of PHS you see
them acting careless and becoming more and
more wasteful with their time. The seniors
of PHS are beginning the long spiral down
to graduation day. As the school year comes
to a close it is time for the seniors to make a
change this year and start a new tradition.
Instead of wasting time and pushing school
work aside, work hard to give the teachers and
underclassmen the respect that you never got
from the seniors as graduation neared. As a senior
I know how it feels to shove school aside
and start marking down the days. I know how
hard it is to concentrate on school work when
in just a few months we will be free from school
at last. Everyone loves the thought of freedom,
and we all want to be adults who are independent.
Everything sounds so great, but I have
heard that it isn’t always what it is cracked up
to be, and sometimes you miss the guidance
and rules that your parents once made for you.
So take these thoughts into consideration
next time you are thinking about skipping
a class or worrying about your math homework
“later” because soon there will be no
more time to push things aside and life will
come at us faster than we are ready to handle.
