Has Class Officially Left Our Society?
Advertising
Imagine a time when the way a woman carried herself was everything, a time when a woman carried class in her bag at all times---the walk that showed the world she was the image of perfect. She never dropped her guard; the outer shell was presented to the world at all times. In our day and age the imperative question is-has that class jumped out of the bag?

Wee see magazines that report on the current embarrassing actions of celebrities. The magazines take every opportunity to showcase these actions, for it is a “good sell”. We humans are naturally attracted to others weaknesses. Some are able to control theses instincts; however, the majority if us simply lack class and can’t help being drawn to these tabloids. I’ve always wondered how it would feel to live in a time where being open was actually looked down upon. I don’t necessarily mean in terms of freedom of speech, I simply mean walking around town with no shirt on! Amy Winehouse seems to have shame in these pitiful proceedings. Now if Amy Winehouse acts outrageous, we automatically read about it. The image of walking with our heads held high seems no longer to be priority of the American Society.

I am aware of how adolescents can be so easily influenced being that I am one myself. We see things on TV. that are visibly inappropriate, and throw our heads back and laugh. I understand that “times they are a changing’” as Bob Dylan would say, but what if theses changes are not for the good of the people. As aware as we all are the legendary 1960’s icons Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis, and Grace Kelly, just to name a few, their admirable ways seems not to rub off on us at all. Possibly because the modern celebrities seem to be more appealing ones due to the fact that they are of our time.

I’m almost certain that those of us who have chosen to turn our cheek away from proper decorum will have that cheeked turned forever, but why not go back and recognize how the ways of the classy women of the past were beneficial for all.
