On September 25, 2009, the varsity girls’ volleyball team clinched their 6^th victory of the season over Richard Montgomery, 25-13, 25-18, and 15-10.

The game started off well, beginning with a powerful serve from senior Kathleen McGrew. After a long rally, the Lady Panthers were able to score their first point taking a lead over the Rockets, with the help of sophomore Lisa Schell. With PB leading 9-5, the game become somewhat of a runaway. Point after point, the Rockets failed to return the serves of  Paint Branch’s strong armed serves. Teynia Shepard, a freshman, was a big asset to the Panthers’ game, serving 2 aces in the first game. In the closing minutes of the first game, blocking errors by PB gave points away to Richard Montgomery but they we able to hold on and win the game, 25-13.

In the second game, junior Kelly Maszkiewicz opened the game with a powerful serve, something that the Lady Panthers are known for. At 4-3, with Panthers ahead, PB  began to make slip-ups that caused them to make easy point. It was clear that the girls knew something was going wrong and quickly turned around and great team communication between the Panthers was evident as well. The Panthers allowed the Rockets 2 points but that didn’t mess up the playing they had from the beginning.  At 17-12, a point was given to the Panthers with a play from Samantha Fean, Elaina Straub, and McGrew, letting the ball drop straight down on their opponent’ court. The Lady Panthers proved victorious, once more winning, 25-18
