On Wednesday, September 23, 2009, Paint Branch held it s annual Back-to-School Night. The event enabled parents to meet with their children’s teachers, learn about the school year, find out about what events are forthcoming, and experience high school life.

The Paint Branch cheerleaders welcomed the parents as they entered the school, which prompted senior parent Mrs. Stoner to comment, "I really enjoyed the cheers from the cheerleaders as they welcomed us to the school." Some of the parents seemed to wonder where Ms. Dixon was when then entered, expecting handshakes from the administration and staff. After having an opportunity to purchase Paint Branch gear and join the PTSA, parents settled into the auditorium as introductions from Ms. Dixon began.

Parents learned about how the school funding was being used. Mrs. Dixon commented on the new school and stating that "We are hoping to break ground in November, early January at the latest." Many of the parents seemed overwhelmed with the size of the new student body, as Ms. Dixon noted that this year the school had over 600 more than the school’s size limit. The presentation was well-attended and some parents had to stand outside the auditorium, hoping to hear what was going on.

Once Ms. Dixon and other speakers finished their speeches, parents ushered to their children’s classes. Parents were very attentive in class, making sure to obtain every single detail from each class. Teachers also did their part in being well-prepared and able to answer all questions from the parents. Mr. Bailey, a social studies teacher at Paint Branch, was impressed with the parent turnout. "Over the past few years parent turnout has increased substantially, and I am happy that they are getting involved. Parent turnout has increased about four times from the last few years," he commented. Overall, parents were very happy to see what their kids learn in class. Parents noted the increase in classroom standards and the increase in the difficultuy of today’s class. One parent noted, "How much harder the material discussed in each class has gotten."
