At-a-glance

Gigidy Gigidy Get it Right Embed This Article

So anyone who knows me well knows I hate people who think too highly of themselves…and one of those people is Kanye West. Don’t get me wrong; I love the music he creates (many have heard me attempt to sing "All Falls Down" and "Touch the Sky" in my shower). I would even consider him a lyrical genius whose beats have literally created careers for rappers who, frankly, wouldn’t even be in the game if it weren’t for Mr. West.

However, West is one of the cockiest rappers in the business and he kinda deserves to be, but when artists like him are quoted saying, "The bible had 20, 30, 40, 50 characters in it. You don’t think that I would be one of the characters of today’s modern bible?" Now personally, I’m a very cocky guy, scratch that confident guy but I would never go around saying that I’m suppose to be in the modern day bible.

Maybe, just maybe, they’re thinking too highly of themselves, and after what happened between him and Taylor swift during September’s VMA’s, where West abruptly jumped on stage as Ms. Swift was giving her acceptance speech and told Ms. Swift that she didn’t deserve to win best female video of the year for her song "You Belong With Me" and that Beyonce should have won the award with her hit song "Single Ladies". That’s why I think Kanye West needs to be taken down a few pegs. West had no right to do this to Taylor Swift; most celebrities would have simply gone home after the VMA’s and tweeted about how Ms. Swift didn’t deserve to win the award.

Don’t go around thinking that I’m in love with Taylor Swift and I’m simply just writing this because of what he did. In fact, I’ve had hatred for Kanye West ever since he told the world that he’s my generation’s voice. I personally don’t remember being asked who can represent me; I thought that was the general idea of democracy-where I can vote for who represents me. Apparently West also thinks he’s above the government because he was quoted saying, "I realized that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade."

Even though it seems only small high school papers and bloggers speak up against the injustice that is Kanye West, many others voice their opinions about him. "South Park," created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, featured characters on the show who create a joke that implies Kanye West is a "gay fish." Kanye, being the lyrical wordsmith that he is doesn’t understand the joke and has an outbreak of violence, which even includes him beating up comedian Carlos Mencia. At the end of the episode Kanye even jumps into the sea and kisses fish. So Kanye, get outta the water and start gigidy gigdy getting it right
