School is back in session and with new classes, books, and friends, new fall trends are a must. Each season the styles change and it’s out with the old and in with the new. You may be surprised to find out which styles have escaped out of the time capsule of the 80’s and which trends that have lingered on from the summer time.
In this fall season, your hair is an important accessory to any outfit you wear. Not much has changed in people’s hairstyles from summer to fall. Bobs have been in for quite some time, but now is the time to spice it up. Cropped bobs and pixie cuts are in and, according to the Fashionable Housewife, a website that is designed to provide its readers articles, blogs, and tips on the newest fashion trends and must haves, you can make it conservative, flip it, layer it, or do anything as there are many different ways to make your bob cut stylish and trendy. Last year, according to Hair Styles Cut, a website that shows you the hottest hair cuts and styles that are in each year, celebrities such as Rihanna and Katie Holmes sported bobs that were more at a medium length.
If you’re rocking long hair, don’t worry! There are many ways to spice up your flowing locks. According to the Fashionable Housewife, the newest hair trends are, centered parted hair, ponytails and up- dos, off centered chignons, body and waves, long and flowing, straight and sleek, and sculpted up-dos. In 2008, according to Hair Styles Cut, for many people with long hair, it was all about the layers and bangs. To get a new look, styles such as, milkmaid braids, cornrows, and plaits are also hot. Junior Bridget Borda claims that she "loves the milkmaid braids because there cute, easy to do, and it only takes a few minutes for when I’m getting ready for school in the morning." As for the hair color, if you’re a blond, stick to soft natural colors; if you’re a brunette, try warm brown; if you’re sporting red hair, go bold this season. Make a statement!
For the autumn season, good, rich make-up is crucial. For eye makeup, the latest trends, according to Associated Content, are "rich, dark colors. Colors like purples, dark greens, browns, and earthy tones will be hot." Bronze and gold eye shadows will also be all the rage this fall. Junior Rahael Zemen bragged about her "new bronze eye shadow from MAC that I can’t wait to wear."
As for lips, according to Associated Content, a website that provides blogs and articles on multiple subjects from fashion to politics, rich reds "ranging from bright crimson to deeper, darkish reds" will be admired this fall. Make sure to not go overboard when applying the makeup. If you’re going to have bold eyes, go with a nude lip, or vice versa.
Having trendy clothing is most essential when coming into this new season. According to Elle magazine, layering clothes with dark grey’s and blacks in a chic, sophisticated way are in, I recommend that you try layering with tailored jackets and knit dresses. Neon pinks and golden colors and animal prints such as zebra and cheetah are also quite popular. Shoulder pads have come back to the future and are hitting the runways this season.
Several trends in last fall, such as metallic, floral and slouchy clothing were popular as were the rocker and country girl looks. In this brisk season, boots are definitely hot; ankle boots and over-the-knee boots, you name it. Tenth grader Heather Jenney spills that she’s, "excited to wear [her] new black boots with a pair of straight legs." Gladiator sandals were the hottest shoe of last summer and they are here to stay. It is weird to imagine gladiators as a top, but according to College Fashion, a blog that offers beauty tips, latest fashions, advice, coupons for shopping on budget and online sale updates for young women; "fall doesn’t necessarily mean cold weather." So match them up with a pair of straight legs or some shorts. Shoulder pads isn’t the only fashion trend back from the eighties, oxford flats and doc martens have also made a comeback, having been seen in many celebrities closets.
So, whether you’re planning on running for Homecoming Queen or just trying to get a hot date, remember to keep these fall fashion tips in mind the next time you update your wardrobe.
