A Bad Year for Tomatoes, a play written by John Patrick, is about a Hollywood actress, Myra Marlowe, who writes her autobiography.
The title of the play actually has nothing to do with the storyline, however, as the whole story is about Myra Marlowe, who becomes involved with Hollywood as a child actress. She decides to leave the business to write her autobiography. The story takes places in a small town in Vermont, Beaver Haven, where she rents a small cottage. Ironically, the peaceful environment she needs for writing her book never comes. With nosy neighbors and all sorts of crazy events, she is far from being able to write her book.
