On Friday, March 5, Paint Branch Principal Ms. Jeanette Dixon announced the Panthers of the Month for the month of February 2010.  

            She began by explaining that teachers nominate the students, who earn these awards on the basis of outstanding Scholarship, Leadership, and Citizenship. 

            Ms. Dixon announced Karla Romero as the ninth-grade Panther of the Month and handed her a copy of A Writer’s Life by Earnest Hemmingway, a Paint Branch pennant, and a Panther pin.

            Madhav Paul, the sophomore Panther of the Month, received a book called The Elements, as well as a pennant and a pin. Madhav expressed his happiness through a big smile and said he feels “pretty cool” for receiving the award.  

            The eleventh-grade Panther of the Month was Angeline Johnny, who received Stephanie Meyers’ Eclipse, a pennant, and a pin. Angeline stated she is “astonished, yet pleasantly surprised,” at the same time.

            Lastly, Ms. Dixon informed everyone of the senior Panther of the Month, Mikias Wolde. She gave him, Louis P. Randeis’ biography, A Life, a pennant, and a pin.

            At the end, Ms. Dixon told everyone to “congratulate the Panthers of the Month if you see them in hallways.” After telling everyone to have a good day, she exited the TV Studio.
