Due to the absence of a January Panther of the Month to celebrate and honor on our pages, we have taken it upon ourselves to honor some other worthy individuals. The four people profiled were chosen based on their involvement, dedication, contributions, and overall committment to everything newspaper. We do this to celebrate our literary work and give our devoted readers a look behind the scenes into what makes the newspaper tick. So, take a look below and find out what it is really like to be a member of Mainstream.

Zoe Owrutsky, Co-Editor-in-Chief, 3 years on staff
Q: What’s the hardest part of being Editor-in-Chief?
A: Picking up other people’s slack when articles don’t get turned in on time or having to be ‘that person’ who nags others to finish layouts.

Teddy Amenabar, Sports Editor, 4 years on staff
Q: Why did you decide to be a part of Mainstream?
A: Ever since the 8th grade orientation, I decided that I wanted to be involved in the newspaper.

Ryan Anderson, Online Editor, 2 years on staff
Q: How would you describe your experience in journalism?
A: Brilliant. Being a part of Mainstream opened my eyes to the fun of journalism, and how much fun writing can be. It’s really great to see yourself published.

Kathy Zhang, Online Editor, 1 year on staff
Q: Describe the class in three words.
A: Fun, active, lively.
