Since the days of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Smith has been working to promote a positive message. Whether it was to black rappers about their lyrics or for kids to make good choices, Smith always tried to leave a positive impression. His career started in the mid-‘80s and by the start of the following decade, he was the biggest superstar in music and TV. Smith dominated the rap game and conquered television. Lately though, Smith has been known for his on-screen performances rather than his music.

Little did the public know that he would return to the rap game with such a strong message. Compared to all of Will Smith’s CDs/singles, this has to be the best in achieving his goal of leaving a positive impression. Before, he simply put the message out there to his listeners. This time, he took a whole other route. Not only does Smith convey his message, he does it with a punch. Track four is called “Mr. Nice Guy” where Smith explains how, just because he is a nice guy, people mistake him for being soft. “Sometimes ya’ll mistake nice for soft so before I go off I’ll just rap…” are his words for those that see him the wrong way.

With his words, Smith proves that he is tougher than a lot of these rappers out here today. With this album, we get inside of Smith’s head; we get a feel for what he is really all about. If you are looking for a head-banger, this is not it. This CD is solely for those looking to hear a positive message and what Will Smith is working toward in the rap game. Suggestion: Download Switch, go watch Hitch, and call it a day.
