One of Augustino’s primary initiatives as the PTSA president was establishing mini-grants for teachers. For three years she has prepared a PTSA budget that include an opportunity for teachers to apply for funding for small projects.

Setting aside money in the PTSA budget for these grants, Augustino opened a window of opportunity for teachers to be more creative, provide snacks and incentives for students who participated in tutorials and study sessions, purchase small electronic equipment, off-set the cost for students participating in academic competitions, provide incentives for students taking the PSAT, etc. Together we reviewed the applications and discussed each individual request, working to support our school’s programs.

Valuing communication, Augustino understands that developing positive relationships with the parents, local businesses and establishments, administration, and school staff is essential to the mission and success of the PTSA.

Augustino serves on the school’s leadership team, the decision making body of representatives for the school. She does not hesitate to speak up on behalf of the parents she represents and offers invaluable insight to the team. Additionally, she worked with a sub-committee to develop a pyramid of interventions designed to offer an array of supports to help struggling students achieve at higher levels.

It has been my honor to work with such a supportive, engaging, active, and knowledgeable PTSA President. This space is not enough to truly get to the heart of what she does for our school. She truly has the best interest of students and parents at the center of what she does. Augustino, we thank you for your dedication and commitment to the students, parents, and GHS school community.Thank you for showing your trojan pride. Best wishes in your future endeavors.
