In the summer of 2007, Blaqk Audio released their album Cexcells. The first week alone sold 30,000 copies and 300,000 copies all together (as of this month). With Cexcells as number 18 on the billboard top 200, many more are projected to be sold. Still referring to AFI (A Fire Inside) in his lyrics, Havok over flows with his emotions concerning friendships and lovers. With the techno-pop romanticism of “Semiotic Love” and the slow building industrial beat of “Between Breaths,” Havok and Puget illustrate all the songs on the album exceptionally. Havok’s dramatic tones deliver a well-suited sound and curve to the chill of the music.

Influenced by electronic music from the 80’s such as Depeche Mode and Ministry, Havok and Puget wanted to have their own style electronic pop about their “adolescent obsession,” as Puget puts it. Their number one single “Stiff Kittens” sold copies across the world. Even though Puget has picked up his guitar again to start writing new music for AFI, he believes that this isn’t the end for Blaqk Audio.



It’s hard not to love this album after hearing it. The unique, new sound gives a sense of sanctuary. Havok and Puget both hope that Cexcells has introduced more of the world to this future sound.
