Halloween is the time of year when young children get out their costumes and go out to Trick or Treat. Although some kids stick with Trick or treating, it comes to a point, as they get older, that some may feel like there is something better to do than go out and gather candy.

When kids get older, it is no surprise that the innocence goes away with age especially when in junior high and high school. Society and the media has it in some kids minds that popularity is the only kind of life, and to be cool they need to curse a little bit more and party. High school is the time where teens expand their minds and find new friends to hang out with. However, what happens during Halloween when the parents stay home and the kids go out? Not every teen goes out to party but some go out to have some fun and Trick or Treat.

As for the others, teens decide to make the choice of going out to have more than just natural fun. Halloween is the quintessential time of year where teens feel that it is time for them to make plans, buy booze and party. It's not only Halloween when party's are held, sadly, parties are what many teens call their Friday night. There are times in everyone's life where he or she doesn't think before they act and they don't realize the consequences until after they have made a mistake. Kids have the tendency to want to be older than they are but don't realize that they are still kids and aren't capable of controlling the amount of alcohol consumed or when to say no to the drugs available at party's.

Many parties introduce harmful addictive substances. It's hard to believe that what a lot of teens think is fun, is irresponsible. It is strange to see what our society has come to when teens our walking around drinking or smoking when most are 14 to 16 years old. However, partying is not a negative issue to some teens, some teens feel that they are old enough to make their own decisions when there mom's are probably still packing their lunches and deciding what dinner is going to be. A majority of teens who don't discriminate against parties say "yeah, I go but what's wrong with that?" Although these two perspectives have reasons, it really is up to the teen to decide what is right and sometimes nothing can help that.

Sometimes people's judgment gets the better of them and people make awful mistakes but with teens who think a party is just a fun time, it only opens up more doors for destruction. There are many ways to have fun so why do alcohol and or drugs have to be a part of it? The true answer is that they don't.
