IRVINE - October 8 kicked off Homecoming weekend for the Beckman Patriots with a football game against Estancia High School. The half-time show consisted of four dance routines that were put together by each class council.
Senior Class Council member Christian Lekavich recounted, "The hardest part of doing the dance was showing up for the practices. It takes determination but in the end, the routine was fun and everyone did a great job!" Following the routines was the arrival of the Homecoming Princess Court. Each girl rode in on a convertible Mercedes and was escorted onto the stage by her father. After that, an announcement was made that Jenny Kwon was Beckman’s new Homecoming Queen. Kwon cheerfully exclaimed, "I’m really excited that I won!" To end the night the Patriot football team beat Estancia with a score of 31-0.

Saturday, October 9, was the night of the Homecoming Dance. The dance started at 7 PM at Beckman High School with Patriots arriving and waiting in line as early as 6:30PM. Patriots waited outside the school at the front gate to go through security. After that, they had to go check in and get their dance wristbands.
This year’s Homecoming theme was "Level Up" which consisted of various video games such as Mario and Pacman. There was also a larger dance floor with a DJ and TV screens featuring various music videos corresponding with the songs that were playing. Along with the music videos, Patriots were also being recorded on live video cameras so everyone dancing could see themselves on the screens. Senior, Jolene Guiliana seemed to enjoy them stating, "The music videos playing on the screen were awesome! I especially loved when they played Dynamite by Taio Cruz."

Pictures were everywhere at the dance. Students could pay as low as $20 to get professional pictures taken with their dates. However, if they were looking for something a little less expensive, the option of a photo booth was their solution. Photo booth pictures were only $2 per person. Junior, Mckenna Allen loved the photo booth and commented, "It was pretty awesome that we got to pick something that was on the table and dress up in the photos!"
Dancing the night away was tiring for some which led them all to the snack and water tables. The cold, refreshing water was a great addition to the dance because many people were thirsty and tired after dancing. If that was not enough, people could take their snacks and drinks over to the tables and take a break for a while.

The dance ended with a final slow song of "The Only Exception" by Paramore. By the end of the night everyone was tired and most girls were walking out carrying their shoes.
From a 31 to 0 win over Estancia at the football game, to an eventful night at the dance, one could say that Homecoming 2010 was definitely a success!
