Although the idea of going green seems impossible, any little effort we make helps.

In today’s world, top notch researchers and developers come up with new ideas that change the world around us.

We all know that gas is a concern as prices rise every week. Hybrid cars run off of electricity, the cleanest and most efficient energy. Automobile makers around the world are working on creating a “fuel cell” which combines hydrogen and oxygen to create electricity. Several fuel cells have already been successfully demonstrated, and recent demands for clean air and reduced oil consumption raise the standards for automobile manufacturers. In an estimated eight years from now, a durable, easy to store hybrid will become perfected.

Since the entire population cannot spontaneously buy an electric vehicle, most stick to smaller cars. Instead of a huge, gas guzzling luxury SUV for a family of four, try downsizing. Buy a car that you know will be less of a gas hog. Get rid of all the unused space, and carpool when you can. When in the city, use public transportation systems if walking is not possible.

Spend a weekend with your family making your home more environmentally friendly by substituting ordinary light bulbs with energy saving ones. Replace all of the prepackaged food items in your pantry with more seasonal items. Along with being healthy, this also helps the earth. Simply drying clothes on a clothes line rather than tossing them in the dryer is a great way to start the conservation process.

While vacationing, choose not to fly when there is a suitable alternative. Get together with friends and family and volunteer for a neighborhood cleanup with a local organization. Fundraisers to help these organizations can get the ball rolling.

It may seem out of our reach as teenagers to take the bigger approaches and just stick with the little opportunities. Taking it a step further and going beyond regular boundaries is a challenge well worth it.

While keeping up with the everyday smaller tasks, throw some of these in as well and educate yourself about the future. Before you know it, the world around you might look a little brighter.
