THERMAL - Before the majority of Rams fans had a chance to find a seat, David Rodriguez tapped in the first of his two goals, as the Rams tallied four times while shutting out defending champions and #1 seed, Animo Leadership High School of Inglewood.

The Rams will be playing in Saturday's championship game thanks to some brilliant teamwork, tight defense, and timely scoring. Rodriguez headed in his second goal at about the ten minute mark, and German Beltran and Omar Perez added second-half goals. Alfonso Cisneros was excellent in goal once again in earning the shutout..

"We struggled during the season, but we've been getting better and we're peaking at the right time, playing our best soccer right now, and getting ready for the final," said Coach Jorge Chavez.

The CIF playoffs are not new to Chavez, as he led the Rams' sister-school, Coachella Valley High School to its first and only CIF Boys' Soccer Championship in 2004. It is new and exciting for the remainder of the Rams and their fans however, many of whom will be making the journey to Downey High School (SE Los Angeles) on Saturday, where the Rams will take on Redlands Arrowhead Christian High School for the Division VI title at noon.
