Is someone harassing you just because you are LGBTQIA?

California law says they CAN’T. It is ILLEGAL! Know your rights: here is a link:

Come see your counselor, or the AP, or the nurse if you have something to report!

Tdap vaccine required for Fall 2011school attendance!

Hey!

Did you know you can’t come back to school in the Fall without your Tdap?

What’s the Tdap?

The vaccine that will prevent whooping cough. A new law says you have to have it if you are entering 7th-12th grades. So, you have three options:

1) go see your doctor and get the shot,

2) if you have had it since your 7

th birthday, bring your shot record to the health office and ask the clerk to record it, or

3) if your parent doesn’t want you to have it, s/he has to call the school nurse to talk about signing the waiver.

Do it now, cuz you can’t come to school if you don’t have it!

How are you eating?

Are you sick more than you should be? Are you tired of being tired? Do you have acne? Is your hair thin or not-so-shiny? Are you happy with your weight?

So, the problem might be your diet. If you are thinking about doing anything about your diet, start with these two changes:

1)

Cut back on your sugar. Sugar is tons of calories with no nutritional value whatsoever. Plus, it makes your brain more cloudy and your body more tired. It drains your immune system so that you can’t fight off colds and flu. ONE soda has 11 teaspoons of sugar. Would you sit down to a bowl of honey? And, sadly, even juice is really concentrated sugar. Drink water, milk or a fermented beverage like kombucha (Lindsay Lohan’s favorite)!

2)

Switch to GOOD fats. Fats are an important part of a healthy diet: They provide essential fatty acids, keep our skin soft, deliver fat-soluble vitamins, and are a great source of energizing fuel. Unsaturated fats, found in fatty fish, nuts, avocadoes, olives and olive oil are good fats to use. Even some saturated fats, like coconut oil, are being shown to have a positive effect on cholesterol levels. The trick is to use UNadulterated, UNprocessed fats, so anything with TRANS-fats is not a good idea. Come to the nurse’s office if you want more information about this new science.

So, raves are happening – have fun and be safe!

Get home safely: Don’t drive if you have been drinking alcohol or doing any drug or even if you are just plain tired from partying all night. Take a bus or a cab. Bring a DD with you.

 Don’t ruin your teeth or jaw. Bring something for your mouth to do—chewing gum, pacifier, etc.

 Get up off the floor. That crud on the floor is dirt and germs and sweat and urine and vomit.

 Don’t drink alcohol if you are taking ecstasy. Mixing drugs is a death wish.

 Get one of those kits that tests for contaminants and other drugs mixed in with the ecstasy.

 Don’t get overheated: Take breaks from dancing. Replenish fluids and sodium.

 Know the signs and symptoms of heat stroke and toxicity.

 Ensure a medical centre and team is on-site.

 Don’t attend a rave alone; contract with a friend to look out for each other.

 And,women, even with all the PLURR in the air, there may be someone who crosses boundaries. Trust your instincts. And if the worst happens, call 1.800.656.HOPE to get in touch with someone in your local area who can help you right away.
