MT SAC - The boy’s cross-country team was the first fall sport to qualify for CIF in the school’s short history. After practicing for three intense months, it finally paid off on Saturday, September 27th. The boy’s varsity team finished in third place at league finals, allowing them to advance to CIF prelims, which were held at a tough Mt. Sac. course.

With just one week to practice, the Rams did not waste any time, knowing that the road ahead of them would be rough. vThe Rams ran in division III, against odd-numbered ranked teams, one through ten.

Jose Vicente said, “As the race was coming up, I felt a mixture of emotions. I felt nervous, excited, anxious, and definitely proud of our team’s capability of rising from one of the last teams last year, to taking second place in league this year. After the race I felt we had done a great accomplishment, even though we didn’t make it to CIF finals. I was proud and happy to be part of a great team that was able to stick together when we had our ups and downs, and for finishing strong, even if we didn’t have some of our runners.”

The Rams gave it all they had, but unfortunately, they came up short, and ended their season this past weekend, Saturday, November 11th, after a long, hard, and painful season.

“Our team did great for the first time competing in the CIF preliminaries this past Saturday. A wonderful group of boys that would make any coach proud.” said coach Cota.

There is no doubt that this year was full of ups and downs that will stay in the mind of every runner who experienced and lived each and every moment. They are destined to leave this school year with a great amount of pride.

The cross country team would like to thank Coach Cota for teaching them the values and responsibilities that go along with being a runner. It was coach Cota's first season, and he did a wonderful job, as the runners continued to improve throughout the entire campaign.
