Student athletes are not just normal students; they have many different activities to complete and very little time to do it. Many students in high school play for their school team or play sports with another organization. When someone asks a teacher or parent, they will tell you how time consuming sports can be, which maybe drawback because education is very important for a teenager’s future.

Over one million teenage students participate in sports. With a large number of students playing sports, it will result in many students not coming to school to learn. The major problem is that when students are not in school, they are not being taught and this problem can cause grades to fall.

Hundreds of thousands of kids join sports teams annually; this is a major jump from just fifteen years ago. Many kids in the world today are interested in sports or music. With such a high focus on these activities, school work is not completed and has affected student’s grades.

There are many issues and achievements that sports may cause with students. Colleges like students who get involved in their community and in their school. Many colleges offer scholarships which can help students pay for school.

Sports and or extracaruclar activities can cause students to become more focused on that activity instead of on school work, which could make grades decreases drastically. Some students feel that sports help them focus better in school because it is a continuous schedule and teaches them time management skills.

Other students believe that the sports season negatively affects grades because they are so focused on that specific activity. Sometimes they start to become lazy in school and let their grades drop.

Sometimes athletes have goals to play in an advanced league in the future with that sport that they consider dropping out of school to have more time to practice, workout and become better at that one activity.

Many teachers and parents agree that education and school have a higher priority than sports or any other out of school activity. With the money spent on sports, music and any other activities, it causes more stress on the child and students, which may affect grades due to not being able to purchase supplies for school work.

Some students talk to their teachers about their schedule and how they can make up missing work. Many people will ask for the work ahead of time so they can work on it while they are traveling, while others just wait until they get back to make up work during lunch or after school.

Although sports and music can be a lot of fun and help relief stress from school, it can also be a stress producer because there is more than those people will have to think about besides school. School is one very important time period during a teenager’s life and people need to be careful how much time they spend on each activity, otherwise there might be a negative effect on grades and other important matters.

Having so many problems on your mind can also cause major health issues. Teenagers are shown to do better with more sleep. Studies show that 8-10 hours of sleep per night is the very minimum of time teens should be sleeping. With sports, school and other activities, people may not be able to sleep and this can cause a declaim of performance in school.
