Playing a sport and keeping up with homework and schoolwork might be a challenge, but what about traveling for the sport you play?

Freshman Colby Ryan is one of many ice hockey players here at Arbor View, and travel hockey has provided him with some unique experiences. “My favorite place I traveled was Quebec, Canada for one of the biggest tournaments ever,” said Ryan.

Teenagers all around the country live a normal life throughout the week, but on the weekend, everything revolves around hockey. Some teenagers even play for teams that aren’t from this city. They travel at least a five hour drive to practice then five hours home a couple days every week.

“The hardest thing was missing school and keeping up with homework,” said Tyler Molony, Junior.

Also when playing a travel sport you get to meet a wide range of teens all around the country. Traveling to different areas of the world, gives the player a chance to see how teens act in that certain state or even country.

“I like getting to know other teams,” said Dillon Smith, senior.

Even though travel hockey is harder to keep up with then the average hometown sports, kids get out there and have a great time. Coming from Vegas, hockey isn’t expected to be a big sport, but believe it or not, it is pretty widespread.

“Playing out of Vegas, people underestimate how well of a player you are and you have to work hard. But its fun going out there and having a blast,” said Torie Cash, senior.

These kids go the extra mile and put their heart and soul into the game they love.
