February 9, 2009- Today, in 1895, Volleyball was invented in Holyoke, Massachusetts by William G. Morgan. He wanted to mix basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball together to create a game with less physical contact than basketball. The volleyball net was originally a tennis net that was raised to create the height of six feet and six inches, which is still used today.

February 10, 2009- Today, in 1992, the heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington, a Miss America Beauty Pageant contestant. She was representing her home state of Rhode Island. Tyson served 6 years in prison.
