Many people have asked me why I teach in the city of St. Louis and the answer is simple; I love kids!

I love kids because they keep me young and on my toes. I love kids because they are unpredictable. I love kids because they get excited when they discover new things. I love kids because they are smarter than we think.

Kids are our future and our future is made up of kids from various environments and yes many of them are from the city of St. Louis. Amongst us all we have future leaders and future stars and all they need is to be taught the right way. All students have the opportunity to become whatever they want in life and my job is to help them get there.

When I walk into the classroom I do not see color and I do not see gender, I see children who are wanting to learn and succeed in life. I do not judge them on where they live or how much money their families make, I see children who are wanting to learn and succeed in life.

On the first day of class I talk to my students about respect. It is something that everyone in this world wants from other people. Respect others for who they are and for what you can learn from them.

I was brought up to look at people for who they are on the inside and that has helped me to become a better teacher. When people ask me where I work I keep my head up and say with pride that I work for the St. Louis Public Schools. I respect my students and everyday I learn from them something new. I will stay with St. Louis Public Schools because I believe in my abilities as a leader but better yet I believe in my students!
