Many people think that recording artist like Ludacris or Outkast can carry the title but to be honest with you they have never really challenged T.I in this arena.
Once dubbed "the Jay-Z of the South" by Pharrell Williams, T.I. gradually came into his own and established himself as one of rap's greatest and most successful MCs during the early 2000s. Like Jay-Z, T.I. -- born Clifford Harris in Atlanta, GA -- has always carried a balance of smoothness and toughness, and though 2001's I'm Serious didn't shoot him out of the gate he consistently grew and began a string of major hits with 2003's "24's."
Far more ink has been spent on his legal issues and a conflict with fellow Southerner Lil' Flip than his Katrina relief efforts and other humanitarian involvements. On May 3, 2006, T.I.'s crew was caught up in a shooting after a show in Cincinnati that left three injured and Philant Johnson -- T.I.'s longtime friend and personal assistant -- dead. But it didn't stop at just that. On October 13, 2007 T.I was arrested for parole violation. Three weeks later he posted a 2.3 million dollar bond but he has to wear a electronic monitoring device while on house arrest.
The King of the South may be on house arrest, but he's still working diligently during his home confinement.
T.I. is also assisting the Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry and Homeless Foundation by reaching out to his friends in the hip-hop community in hopes of bringing people together for the holidays.
As of right now, the Grammy winner cannot speak on his weapons charges and impending trial but hopefully he beats the case and will remain KING TO THE GAME.
