For as long as the cafeteria staff workers can remember there have been ridiculous amounts of food and beverages disappearing from Timken cafeteria. This has gotten worse since the new cafeteria was set up according to the cafeteria staff.

“There are at least ten to fifteen juices and subs being stolen each day. At least twenty students have been caught stealing products this year. I feel as if the consequences should be consistent and I think the principals are not hard enough on the thieves who are caught. It is very upsetting mainly because, none of the adults pay any attention and expect us too but it is way to hard to watch everything and serve students all at the same time,” said, Andréa Burns one of the cafeteria staff witnesses to the thief of three years.

Throughout this entire year we have lost at least $500 in food in beverages,” said Janice Keim the cafeteria manager .

In fact each student that is caught is earning different punishments that many of the staff do not agree on.

Officer Ondo stated, “the consequences for each student goes on a case by case basis we look at each individual thief’s history, background, and how many products they stole total."

“We are quit aware of this situation because quit a few of people have been caught and prosecuted for it. The consequences are suspension, restitution, and prosecution because stealing is an unacceptable and ridiculous act to commit,” said Mr. Demetro.
