Veterans’ Day, formerly a national holiday, is a day that Timken JORTC takes time to show respect for all past and present soldiers.

The group is honoring veterans by respectfully watching over the organizational flags, and paying respect to all veterans, living and deceased.

JROTC hopes to honor all those who wear the uniform.

The student members of JROTC take what the occasion seriously. They’re learning Army values such as duty, honor, respect, loyalty, and integrity.

Veterans Day use to be a national holiday but is no longer.” Freedom is purchased with a cost’’ said Major Deckard. He said that he wished that Veterans’ Day was still a national holiday.

“I hope that the JORTC members respect what they are doing, and also Timken High School students,” said Deckard.

The program is going on in the cafeteria during the lunch periods today.

Jason Archibald a cadet Sergeant in the JROTC program, said, ‘’It means a lot to me because I’m entering a career in the military. I feel lucky to be in the program because it gives me a jump-start on my career.”
