With both the football and volleyball seasons coming to a close, the coaches and players all have different opinions on how they thought they respective seasons went.

Both teams acknowledge that they had definite weaknesses this season. “Depth and our new offensive line” were what head football coach Jason Jund said his teams lacked.

It was undisputed between the volleyball players that their biggest weaknesses were coverage and defense. “We need to finish games as well,” said sophomore and varsity player Heather Rennerfeldt as something she felt they could improve on.

Along with the weaknesses there were visible strengths. “Hitting is a huge strength of ours,” said volleyball co-captain Laura Bartek.

The football team has a solid way of showing their strengths “Every team we played against and lost to made it to the playoffs and won their first game…we lost to the best,” said Jund.

As the season progressed, the teams made improvements. “We had a few girls who hadn’t played varsity volleyball before. We learned to mesh. We got used to playing next to one another” said Bartek.

For the football team Jund said, “We were more of a team, we pushed each other and put in a lot of extra effort.”

Moments and events that impacted and stick out the most about the season weren’t as much about games won and lost but about heart and how everyone came together as a team.

“The fact that we never quit and clawed our way back into a few games sticks out to me,” said Jund.

Likewise co-captain Margie Anthony said, “Just getting along as a team. We are a very close-knit team that believes in each other. That led to a very fun and successful season.”
