The health fair at Greenfield high is an event looked forward to by students and teachers alike. On this day, students and teachers can relax and collect healthful information from their peers as well as companies and organizations around the county. Students, teachers and the public also have the opportunity to donate blood to the Red Cross during the health fair.
Unfortunately, to many, this years’ health fair was a let down. Students look forward to the health fair to gather knowledge and also collect samples and goodies from the various booths set up in the gymnasium. In the recent difficult economic times, organizations find themselves with less money to hand out samples or even send representatives to speak to our students and teachers. In past years, our gym was full of unfamiliar faces of companies and organizations. This year, students ran most of the booths, making them less exciting and appealing to peers.
Even with the economic crisis burdening the success and uniqueness of this years health fair, students still had a great day filling their brains with healthful knowledge and watching demonstrations like how a police dog finds a person or drugs and even witnessing an attack on a “criminal” (actually a policeman). Students also had the opportunity to try on official firefighter gear and be harassed on a stretcher.
This years health fair suffered a bit with the economic crisis we are facing as a country, but, as usual, Greenfield high still found a way to pull through.
