With a core of talented young wrestlers, Dysart’s wrestling program looks forward to starting the new season so they could begin to build for a prominent future. Leading the way are new wrestlers and a new coach, Robert Kitchen. Kitchen was the head coach of wrestling here at Dysart years ago. He has taken control of the reigns once more and hopes to guide Dysart’s wrestling program in a positive direction.

Helping Kitchen with his goal of building for the future is the previous coach, Mr. Mason, and a team oozing with promising talent. The wrestlers adjusted well to Kitchen’s new style with the help of Mason. Kitchen claims that there are wrestlers who are even good enough to make state. These players will lead their team into a season of great promise. However, the wrestling program has an abundance of young, un-experienced wrestlers.

“This year’s team is a good young team,” states Kitchen, “They are enthusiastic and learning a lot. Their youth will pay dividends for the future.” A major pro for the team this year is that there are more wrestlers this year compared to last. These new wrestlers will probably set the standard for the wrestling program for the upcoming years. Preparing themselves to become better wrestlers, the wrestling team has worked really hard on conditioning and strength training for the upcoming season. “We’ve been conditioning so far and I already see it paying off,” says Trevor Gault, a wrestler for Dysart, “It might be strenuous from time to time, but we can handle it, and it will benefit us in the long run.” The Dysart wrestling team seeks to do very well against all of their opponents, an attitude that provides a positive vibe concerning Dysart’s wrestling program.

Decades ago, the wrestling program used to hold the Demon Invitational right in here at Dysart. The Demon Invitational is very similar to Dysart’s Demon Classic, but instead of basketball, it is wrestling. Kitchen spearheaded this tournament every year. With Kitchen back in the wrestling program, it looks as if the Demon Invitational will return to our backyard. However, the Demon Invitational is still in the process of being revived and probably won’t occur for a few years.
