Dear Andy,

My dream in life is to become an actor but my whole family is against this idea. My dad becomes quiet when I mention it, and my mom tells me its unrealistic. I have friends that aren’t supportive, but they don’t actually say it. I’m getting the idea that my dream might not be such a good idea. Should I reach for the stars?

-- Shooting Star --

Dear Shooting Star,

Think about it. Truly think about how hard it is to become an actor. Talk to your school guidance counselor about the requirements of the profession. If, after thinking hard and long about it, you still want to become an actor, then go for it! Don’t let anyone stand in your way. Be the best possible actor you’ve ever seen!

Dear Andy,

I never seem to have time for anything! If I hang out with friends I don’t have time for homework. If I go to work, I don’t have time for friends, etc. Should I quit my job? Help!

--Hated by father time--

Dear Hated,

I think you should practice being more organized. Try to plan your day to allow for all the things you need and want to do. For example, try not to dwell on time with your friends so much during the week. Spend time with them on weekends. Use the weekdays to get things done. Certainly do not quit your job, that’s only a sign of laziness. Just do your best to plan your time accordingly and save the weekends for fun stuff.

Dear Andy,

I can’t help it, but I shoplift – all the time. My friends and I do it in our free time, but about a week ago my friends got caught. I was lucky, but I don’t want to stop. What should I do?

--Shoplifter--

Dear Shoplifter,

Lucky is an understatement! Shoplifting is a crime. If you truly can’t stop you may be a kleptomaniac. Maybe you should talk to an adult about seeing a psychiatrist for your condition. Nonetheless, you need to stop.
