Candy is sometimes a major thing in people’s life. No one really knows why, but it sometimes take over their lives.

“I used to really like candy but the older I got the least I like it,” said sophomore Jordon Gregory.

But besides controlling people’s lives candy seems to change over the years. Candy can be chocolate, chewy, crunchy, gummy, and different flavors. Some old candy actually becomes more popular after time. Bubble gum has come in different types over many years. People could buy bubble gum tape, bubble gum cigars, cigarettes, and bubble gum suckers.

“When I was younger, I loved the bubble gum tape. It had so many different flavors it was so awesome,” said freshman Kahla Snyder.

Chocolate has many different types of styles flavors and names. Chocolate is very popular wherever you go. 100 grands, 5th avenue, Baby Ruth, 3 Musketeers, Butterfingers, Caramello, Chunky, Milkyway, Heath, and the plain old Hershey bars. And there are even more to say. Just in this list of candy there are already different kinds, some are just plain chocolate, filled with fluff, rice krispies, and caramel.

“Butterfingers are the best kind of candy I have ever eaten. I do not like much candy but I will always love butterfingers,” said sophomore Alex Harris.

Chewy candies have been popular throughout the years. Before Gummie bears came out, there was a very popular candy called Chuckles. People can now choose from Jujyfruits, Jujubes, Laffy Taffy, Lemon Slices, Mamba Fruit Chews, Now and Laters, Salt Water Taffy, Sour Patch Kids, Sugar Babies, Swedish Fish, and Tootsie rolls. Chewy candy ranges from many different flavors.

“Chewy candies have always been my favorite candy. My most favorite chewy candy would probably be Sour Patch Kids or Sugar Babies,” said Sophomore Kady Hahn.

Jelly Beans. Wow, talk about many different flavors. Jelly Belly jelly beans first came out in 1976. And now in 2009 they have the original jelly belly, sport jelly belly, Sunkist, Bean Boozled, Cold Stone Creamery, and sugar free jelly belly.

“My most favorite Jelly Belly’s are the original ones. They are the most exotic flavors ever,” said Sophomore Natalie VanDeZande.

Popular 50’s Candy. Most people will be amazed what candy came out then, especially knowing they are still popular today. Some popular 50’s candy were Bubble gum Cigars, Vanilla Bun Bar, Candy Corn, Junior Mints, Wax Bubble Gum Lips, Sno Caps, and Giant Tootsie Rolls.

“Oh my gosh, when I would go to the movies when I was younger I would always get Sno Caps. I would not guess that they came out in the 50’s. That is so weird,” said Freshman Megan Sisco.

“I always thought the wax lips were a little weird, I am not surprised that they were popular in the 50’s ha. That’s funny. I think my grandma actually used to eat them," said Junior Kristen Sisco.

Candy, as you can tell, has a big variety. It is always something to talk about because of all the different kinds of candy that’s out there.
