What’s new at Garrett High School? Fashions are a major thing that goes on around here. What kind of styles do you see as you walk down the hallways? Do they wear what you wear or something completely different? At least our school doesn’t have school uniforms. What would it be like with uniforms?

"I don’t really pay attention to what other kids wear, I worry about myself," said Dana Hatton. "The clothes I wear are comfortable and make me happy and feel good."

A lot more schools are going to school uniforms because of gangs or economic problems. Gang colors are a distraction to the school’s students and staff.

"I don’t really see any gang colors in the high school. How can a certain color be considered a gangm" said Cody Wickline. "The clothes I wear came out of my closet. I just grab whatever and throw it on and head out the door."

Some school’s get hit pretty hard with economic issues. Which are also getting to the parents. Garrett High school students are aloud to wear clothes that they feel comfortable in and enjoy being seen in.

"I wear my clothes because it fits the weather," said Jamie Osborne. "I like being comfy, and wearing clothes that may compliment my shape!"

Having the freedom to wear what we feel like wearing at Garrett High School is a great thing for the students. This means that each and every student has the right to wear what he or she wants to.

"I wear a lot of Argyle stuff and nice clothes," said Alex Stoltie. "I just like dressing nice."

There are a variety of fashion styles at Garrett High School. Teens wear what they want to wear.

"I like to wear Hollister," said Kimberly Curry. "It is amazing! It is comfortable and stylish."

The clothes teens wear help them express themselves and show the kinds of styles they enjoy wearing.

"I wear nice clothes because I want to look nice for the team and school, I don’t want to bring our fine look down," said Lucas Bobay.

Garrett High School’s dress policy is a little strict. It allows you to wear certain clothes to a certain extent. Short shorts and mini skirts are not acceptable because of how much skin it allows to show. Tank tops can be worn only if there is a jacket covering your shoulders.

"Garrett High school will not be having a dress code next year or anytime soon," said Ron Frickey, football coach and next year's assistant principal . "They don’t know for sure what they want to do, but they know that there won’t be one next year.

Having the freedom at your own school to let you wear clothes that don’t match other students. People dress the way they want. The clothes students wear make them feel comfortable and confident of how they look.

"I wear clothes from the Goodwill," said Freshman Alexis VanHorn. "I wear clothes that show how I feel."
