Garrett High School held a blood drive on Tuesday March 2, 2010.  The Student Council worked with The American Red Cross. There were also people that teamed up with the Student Council to host the blood drive.

Many Students were eager to give blood. I asked some of the students some about the blood drive and their participation.

The first person I interviewed was Lydia Bair.  I asked her, “Why do you want to give blood?

She replies, “I want to save a life.”

I asked her, ‘”What was the experience like?”

She answered, “ They just poke you with a needle and it was rewarding.  I did not pass out.Next I interviewed, Alisha Brown.  I asked her, “Why do you want to give blood?”

She answered,  “ I want to save a person’s life.

I asked her, “Are you scared?”

She replied, “ Of course because it is my first time.

After I interviewed Alisha, I interviewed Trevor Debes.  I first asked him, “How do you feel about giving blood?”

He replied, “It makes me feel good about helping people.  It makes me feel good to know someone may not lose a loved one.”

Then I asked, “ Why did you want to give blood.” His answer was the same as before.  Then I asked, “Were you scared at first?”

He answered, “ No because I have given blood before.

My final question I asked him was, “ How do you feel since you are giving blood at this moment?”

His answer was, “ I feel exhilarating.

The last person I interviewed was Micah Bodey. I asked her, “ Why do you want to give blood.”

She answered, “I want to save a life, and it makes me feel good.”

I asked her, “ Are you scared or nervous?’’

She replied, “No, not at all.”

The final question was, “Have you ever given blood before? If so how many times?”

“Yes, I have given blood two other times,” was her response.

By the end of the day, Garrett High School students gave back ninety pints of blood.  We even had students that signed up to give blood not able to.  The American Red Cross ran out of time.
