One person who really shows the pillar of caring is Melissa Deknoick. Melissa is a freshman at Garrett High School, and a participant in the DeKalb County 4-H club. She is also a member of Student Council and a melophonist in the school marching band.

Melissa shows the pillar of caring by almost never putting herself first. She donates her time to the school and the community by volunteering at the public library and is eager to participate in Student Council activities. Melissa defiantly cares about her environment and especially cares about animals. She loves to adopt abanded or injured wolves who are in need of a caretaker. This is one of the most amazing actions that someone can do.

When asked about the pillar of caring, Melissa had strong views about the world being at peace.

“I believe if people were more caring, we would have less abuse reports on both animals and children,” she said. “The world would be so much better.”

She also believes it is important to be an influence to other people.

“I just hope that if one person does a really awesome action, that the world would have a positive reaction and then start doing good deeds themselves," she said. "Then everyone would be more caring.”

Many people know of Melissa’s qualities and speak of good things about her.

“She’s a very friendly person, everyone is her friend,” said a good friend of hers. “There is not one person who knows her who doesn’t like her.”

Other people, like teachers, have always mentioned how polite Melissa is.

“She says ‘hi’ to me every morning, and it lightens up my day a little bit,” said Mrs. Coffman, an eight grade teacher.

So along with being a caring person, we can now add polite and nice to her reputation.

All in all, Melissa is a great person for what she does. Maybe many people have the dame views as her's, but never carry out in what they believe in. Melissa is a great inspiration to her friend and others, truly, making the world a little bit better.
