New to Gadsden High School this, 2007-2008 school year is Commander Snarr.

Commander Snarr comes to GHS all the way from North Carolina, where he taught for 14 years. When asked how he liked our small town he said that he and his wife, who accompanied him down to New Mexico, love it here. He mentioned that they enjoy the south western culture, the style of living, and added that he enjoyed the weather being less humid.

During the interview the new Commander was asked if any changes would be made to the ROTC program at Gadsden High School he replied with a simple, “no.” He said that the program was great, with “great students,” who have won 500 trophies in the last 8 years. That’s more than 60 trophies every year for the past eight years. But one thing that was mentioned that he was considering is adding another team which goes by the name orienteering. Orienteering is a different competition with different schools out of our district where ROTC members would have to find their way through rough terrain with only a compass.

So a great big welcome from all of us to the new Commander, who is sure to continue making our ROTC program as successful as they have been in the last eight years.
