As you may have already heard next year only Seniors will be able to drive to school, because there is so much construction going on throughout the school. The theater is going to be rebuilt soon, and more relocatables are being added to the parking lot. This means not as many students are going to be able to drive next year.

What about the students who have been waiting to drive to school? Some students will be getting their license around the time school starts. ThatÕs why we are having a lottery so that no one has to fight for a parking space. Next year the A.S.D. is thinking about letting only the Juniors and Seniors drive and they may have to take part in a parking permit lottery.

Since not as many students are going to be driving next year, there are going to be more students riding the bus. The buses are already packed as it is, maybe even over the limit (more than 2 people to a seat). A.S.D is also thinking of charging all the students who take a bus to and from school $100. Some students families canÕt afford that. Most students are thinking of taking the city bus. If you pay 75 cents a day, thatÕs $3.75 a week, $15 a month and $150.00 a year. Maybe you should just take the school bus.

Should they really make people ride a bus? Maybe they should because we might need more buses for all the students riding the bus, and that means more bus drivers, and they have to get paid. Maybe not, because, then again some families canÕt afford it. Do you think itÕs fair that only the Seniors are driving next year? Or can you care less about the whole thing? Whatever it might be we would like to get your opinion.

LaNisha Russel, clearly stated. ÒI will not be riding the bus next year, because hopefully I will be driving. They shouldnÕt charge students to ride the bus. ItÕs their fault they donÕt have enough money to pay A.S.D.Õs bills. ThatÕs messed up when they said Sophomores canÕt drive because people have been waiting so long to have the freedom to drive, and thatÔs not fair to have us stuffed in a bus and on top of that pay $100. Buses wonÕt be so crowded if we could drive.Ó

LeGina Hall says, ÒI donÕt know if IÕm riding the bus or not it depends on who I know thatÕs going to be driving. They shouldnÕt start charging people because some people may not be able to afford it (not me). Yes I do think itÕs fair that only Juniors and Seniors can drive next year, because IÕm going to be a Junior. Yes I do plan on driving as soon as I take my permit test. Five months later IÕm going to be driving!Ó

Shu Shu Hall and NeNe stated, they donÕt plan on riding the bus next year, they donÕt believe people should start having to pay $100 to ride the bus, and they donÕt think itÕs fair that only Juniors and Seniors can drive next year. No they donÕt plan on driving to school next year.

Ashley Hall clearly stated, ÒI donÕt think thatÕs fair cause you have to pay for everything in this school. Sports, parking permits, etc.Ó
