All Hallow’s Eve: Don’t be a lost soul on Halloween - take advantage of a great Friday

Prayers answered. Wishes deemed. Requests fulfilled. The ghoulish whisper of All Hallow’s Eve will saunter through the moonlit streets on the final Friday of this month, bringing with it its famous symbols of jack-o’-lanterns on doorsteps and disguised children teeming among sidewalks and cul-de-sacs. At an age interval where petitioning for candy may seem juvenile and adult costume parties far into the future, many teens find themselves short of any sufficient plans for this dark, ghostly holiday of sorts, and lose the opportunity to take advantage of the very conveniently placed calendar date. For those unable to generate a strategy for Halloween, here are numerous ideas to fulfill a hankering for bone-chilling excitement.

1. Arrange a scary movie marathon. An evening of legendary serial killers provoking surround-sound terror is easily executed with a couple pals, the curtains closed, and the lights dimmed to the lowest setting (always check under the couch before placing feet on the floor).

2. Visit the local psychic. With the spirits most stimulated in the sinister darkness of Halloween, an outing to a person in touch with the visitation of passing souls is sure to ignite a spark in lovers of fright and the supernatural.

3. Roam a local hot spot for paranormal activity. Alleged haunted houses are sprinkled among Grand Rapids, and all one needs is a group of fearless friends and a quick getaway for safety precautions. Also, shoes that are trip-proof should be worn as a preventative measure, to ensure the most convenient of runaways, should it be needed.

4. Rove an apple orchard. Not only do apples hold high nutritional value, but many local orchards have other activities than picking and plucking fruit. Hayrides, corn mazes, and doughnuts and cider are enough to get any sweet-tooth to a thicket of these expansive fruit-bearing trees.

Halloween and the season surrounding swells with the aroma of baking goods, buzzes with the excitement of cascading candy baskets, and sulks under the looming shadow of eerie phenomena. May the craving for exhilaration and a freaky Friday of Halloween be implemented with safety and the most precise actions of creepy accomplishment.
