Thecross country team looks to have another successful year after bringing backsome key runners.
Theywill see how they match up to other schools on Saturday, September 5 in theirfirst meet of the season.
“Ourfirst meet is in Brazoswood this weekend,” senior R.J. Lowry said.
Theyhave a lot to look forward to after working very hard this past summer.
“We’llbe pretty solid this year,” Coach Steve Haffelder said. “We have some very goodfreshman.”
Someof the runners are very excited about this year.
“Wehave seven meets this year,” junior Lucas Beven said. “I predict we are goingto state.”
Thecross country team has brought in some pretty promising runners for the 2009season.
“Wehave great team chemistry this year,” Lowry said. “There are several greatyoung runners also.”
Theteam has relied on its great comradery to perform at its peak this season.
“Wehave a good mix of runners,” Haffelder said. “We have great leaders this yearalso.”
Thegirls will be competing in seven meets this season before they go run in thedistrict meet, which will take place on October 28.
“Igot fourth at the first meet and everyone else did a great job so I think thatall the work we put in this summer was well worth it,” senior Maddie Murphysaid.
Theyalso have a very good group of runners returning from last season.
“Wedidn’t lose any seniors from last year and we have some good freshman,” Murphysaid.
