Every year juniors and seniors take a day out of theirsummer the week before school starts to show the freshman around the school andhelp them better prepare for the upcoming years.
“I think we help the freshman, so they’re not soscared their first day of school,” senior Prianka Legesse said.
The freshmen are first welcomed into the boy’s gym fora welcoming assembly before the upperclassmen take them on a tour.
“The new freshman right as they walk into the gym isdefinitely my favorite part,” senior Emily Scannapieco said. “All the leadersmake them walk through a tunnel full of yelling and clapping, hopefully gettingthem excited to be there.”
The tour is about an hour long and the leaders try toshow them where everything is in the school.
“I think the freshman really get to learn there wayaround the school,” junior Zach Hardy said. “Especially with all thisconstruction going on, it helps to show them the shortcuts so they’re not lateto classes.”
Most Link Crew leaders do Link Crew because they wentthrough the orientation when they were freshman and want to help just like theywere helped.
“I know Link Crew helped me a lot when I was afreshman,” senior Cruz Hernandez said. “I was luckier than some of the otherfreshman that got very lost on their first day of school.”
Link Crew is a very positive experience for theupperclassmen that participate in it and the freshman that learn from theexperience.
