Clean unmarkednotebooks, sharp new pencils, and sad sulking faces bring the reminder thatsummer is finally coming to an end and a start to a new school year is ready tobegin.
Formany students the realization of this is a depressing thought.
“It’s my last year and so after it’s over I won’t getto see any of my friends anymore,” senior Brandon Philbrick said.
While others are viewing the glass half full, some aretaking a positive approach by seeing the good in this inevitable event.
“The best part would be getting new classes and newschedules,” senior Randy Mullen said.
Whether their thoughts are positive or negative aboutthe start of the new year, the majority of the students had an enjoyablesummer.
“I’m gonna miss getting to sleep in and eating anytime I want,” Mullen said.
Instead of spending their days by the pool, somestudents spent their summers in a more productive way.
“I worked at the Lego store,” junior Mark Walker said.“So, I could by stuff and have money to spend.”
While most enjoyed their summers completely, fewstudents might change some minor things. In order to add a few events that wereunable to happen.
“I wish I could have spent more time with my friends,”Walker said.
Whether they had a busy summer of work or relaxed bythe pool many wish they were still back on break.
“I miss all the free time I had,” Philbrick said, “Being able to write music and hang with my friends any time I wanted was thebest part.”
Having gone from the laid back day-to-day casual lifethey had grown used to and now suddenly having to go back to the busy schedulethe school year brings, many students are having a hard time adapting.
“My schedule is so much busier than last year,” juniorCristine Kristof said. “It’s going to be hard getting use to all the new work.”
Whether having a good or bad start to the school year, many students are ready for the upcoming year.
“I’m excited to finally see my friends and having agreat start to the school year," Kristoff said.
