Stephanie Meyer has been praised for her Twilight series. Many people across the nationhave been gobbling it up like fanatics. Question is, are you ready to take a bite?

The story begins through Bella’s eyes as she enters a new school in a small northern town, Forks. Being a danger magnet, she grabs the attention of the Cullen family, and Edward’s heart. Did I mention they are vampires? All seems well until the wrong kind of vampire takes a sniff of her. James, a cunning predator, can not wait to sink his teeth into her, and does not mind doing whatever is necessary.

Let us take a look at the two main characters of this first book.

We have Bella Swan, our heroine. She is intelligent, cares for her family, and often injures herself thanks to her clumsiness. Bella ends up falling in love with vampire Edward Cullen, who is described as incredibly good looking.

Which leads us to Edward! He is quite the romantic, if you consider his stalker streak charming. Albeit bossy at times, he just wants to protect his love. Sparkles aside, Edward is also known for his speed and ever shifting eye colors.

Meyer is excellent with words and descriptions, though at times overwhelming. Any reader would enjoy the flow and action she creates. However, this book is not meant for everyone. Those who enjoy more action in a vampire novel will have to look elsewhere, since this is mainly about Bella’s and Edward’s star-crossed romance.

Despite Twilight’s flaws, it remains an enjoyable read.
