Senior year is a big deal. Maybe not for you, but for me it is.
For four years, I have literally resided at this very school of ours. I have witnessed all the changes that took place here that either raised eyebrows, or received rounds of applause.
My freshman and sophomore year, I lived in the fast lane, so to speak. I remember people telling me that my decisions, even as a freshman, would affect me as a senior. Did I listen to that tid-bid of advice? Nope.
I was a high school bum. I failed most of my classes and TAKS because I was too busy living the high- school life.
In 11th grade, my past came back to bite me in the butt, respectively.
Junior year alone is the hardest of all 4 years. But when you fail core- freshman classes and TAKS, junior year suddenly becomes the biggest mountain you have to climb…barefoot.
I had to take extra math classes, show up for school an hour early for tutorials and stay an hour after school, spend lunch-time studying, and lost elective privileges. I had no time to socialize with friends. At home, I was knee-deep in school work given to me by my personal tutor that the school assigned to me.
This year, for most seniors, is the year of “senioritis”. While most seniors just laze around waiting to walk across the stage wearing that goofy cap and gown, I am stressing seven days a week trying to ensure that I can walk across that stage.
The moral of the story? Buckle down.
No matter what grade you are in, your future is hovering over you, waiting for you to somehow screw up so you can later look back to regret the things you did or didn’t do.
Take it for me, a senior.
