On Friday, 10 April various students gathered at the Alice Harding Stevens Center for a rock filled evening.  For a donation of $5 locals were able to enjoy a full night of great food and great music put on by Laramie High School’s own Amnesty International Club.

“Oh it was a great time, the music was awesome and the dancing was fun,” told Nichol Elder.  The concert, which featured many different local bands, also did a great job at raising benefit money, “we raised just under $500 in profit, which will be split between Laramie SAFE Project and Interface Good Samaritan’s Food Bank.”

What better way to spend a Friday night than donating to charity and enjoying some local music. “It was a fun time, the music was ‘crip-dip-droppin’ and the ladies were plentiful,” laughed Senior Mason Orcutt.

Some of the local bands that played there included Lazy by Nature, The Rhythm Flow, St. Olas, The Painter Brothers, Extol, and The Collective Elements.  “All of their performances were great,” said Senior Paul Weatherford.

Amnesty International has been doing this for many years and it seems like they will do it for many more.  They help with various local charities as well as discuss international problems.  They strive to help uphold human rights as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

They meet every Wednesday during lunch to discuss what they will do next for mankind.  “It’s good fun for a good cause,” claims Weatherford.
