Since the current chapter leader, Korinne Rice, is retiring this year and isn’t being replaced, the nine DECA students need to raise money for one final trip to nationals.  To raise funds the students are selling the remaining T-shirts left in stock in the main hall during lunch.

The students are also going around to local businesses to see if they could donate some money.  “The students have raised a lot of money,” said Rice, “The only thing they will have to pay for is their meals and everything else will be paid for with the rest of the budget and the money they have raised.”

“It’s really sad that she won’t be replaced next year and DECA will end this year,” said Kaylynn Jaycox, “And I think that the feeling is mutual for the other members.”

Along with Jaycox there will be seven other members going to nationals in Anaheim, Cal.  The members include, Shivam Patel, Desiree Brito, Ashley Clark, Austin Rames, Brody Hilgencamp, Jacob Thayer and Kathleen Bartke.

They will be leaving for nationals on April 28.  “I am very excited for the students,” remarked Rice, “This is the most promising group of students, that I believe, that could finally bring Laramie DECA its first national champion.”
