Art work can tell a very good story by just looking into what the artist has to say. The students in Shelly Miller's art class at Laramie High School got to experience this in a very meaningful way.
In the past few days, Millers intermediate art classes have been taking trips to view the art work at the University of Wyoming’s art museum, “we basically took kids to the museum to look at the art work,” says Millers student teacher Cassandra Stackis.  The work featured at the museum currently is based around the tragic disappearing in Mexico and South America, “It’s really sad to see all the families that have disappeared,” comments LHS junior Chelsy Broderick.

The classes have been asked to view the art work and then express how the work has made them feel by writing and drawing a small piece, “it’s hard to imagine how sad the people feel whose families disappeared without any trace,” Broderick said. “I think this is one of the most successful shows I have ever seen in my life,” Stackis commented.

The art exhibit is very famous; “it’s a national exhibit, seen all over the world,” says Stackis. The work is all made by “a series of artists, not just one person that was affected” added Stackis.  The art is “about the 1960’s and 70’s with the South American countries and how their government was allowing residents to disappear,” Stackis continues.

The art work was very moving and the class is very glad they got to attend the talented show.
