The spring is quickly approaching and the school year is finally coming to an end. For seniors the days are getting longer, but graduation is just around the corner.

Each year the seniors’ class gets grumpy, lazy and just plain don’t want to come to school. The Class of 2004 will be counting the days tell school is out. To be exact, there are 62 days left of school including weekends and vacations.

I recently asked some seniors about their opinions on senioritis and their thoughts on graduating in May.

Daryl Mesa said, “ It’s about d*@n time!” She commented on graduation and finally getting out of good ol’ Laramie High.

Kristi Ferrell joyfully said, “ I definitely have the illness and I am glad that we are graduating.”

Danielle Sailors said with glee, “ I really have senioritis. I have had it for three years. I am so glad to be getting out.”

Kyle Sheen noted, “ The only thing I’ll miss are my friends. Sorry teachers.”

“I feel like a fish stuck on a stringer in a pond, still alive but not going anywhere,” mentioned Ky Burgess.”

As you can tell many seniors are ready to graduate and definitely have a bad case of senioritis. For me, I can truthfully say that the illness is getting worse and worse.

Parents beware the doctor defines senioritis as lazy, rotten kids. Symptoms include fatigue, sexual side affects, dry mouth, alcoholism, and very bad mood swings. Unfortunately, there is no cure and no medication will help with the symptoms. The only cure is a long vacation and GRADUATION! Lots of sleep and many days of missed school will lighten up many of these symptoms and for parents this could be a good thing.
